Open Water Swimming |
||
|
Nationally there has been a long period of good weather that has resulted in high temperatures. Partnered with it being Half Term, young people have been drawn to open water to cool off.
Unfortunately, this has lead to 12 deaths nationwide as a result of young people swimming in open water.
The Moorlands has many open water spots including Tittesworth Reservoir, Hales Hall Pool, Rudyard lake, Knypersley Reservoir to name a few.
Although these areas are inviting to jump in and swim, there are not only dangers lurking underneath the water, but the sudden change of a hot body hitting cold water can cause the body to go into cold water shock.
We want everyone to enjoy the natural beauty that the Moorlands have but we want people to do it safely.
